	Kelionė po autentišką Japoniją, laikas su amatinininkais ir įdomiais vietiniais. O spalvingi klevai lydės mus visą kelionę.
8 žmonių grupė aplenks turistinius greitkelius ir ners į Japoniją, kurią vietiniai pasilieka sau. Pradėsime nuo kalnų šiaurėje, kur kartu su medžiotojais seksime meškų migraciją, pasitiksime saulėtekį ant kalno, užsuksime į lapių kaimą, žvejo valtele plauksime akmeniniais iškyšuliais, kopsime į aukščiausią Japonijoje dievybės statulą.
Keliausime laiku į šimtametes amatides: kursime medines demonų kaukes, gaminsime peilius, mokysimės tradicinio teatro oratorikos.
Atsipalaidavimui mirksime geoterminiuose šaltiniuose ant jūros kranto, kilsime į ekstremalų (sąlyginai) karštų versmių kompleksą kalnuose, vartysimės mineralų purvo voniose. Siela sugrįš į kūną.
Antra kelionės dalis skirta Tokijui. Peršoksime vitrinas ir pasinersime į subkultūras, fotografuosime imtyninkus užscenėje, kartu su konsumatoriais ir klubų savininkais narpliosime naktinį Tokijaus gyvenimą, fotografuosime gatvę, šokėjus ir modelius.

Yra Japonija pardavimams: Kijotas, ta žymioji sankryža Tokijo centre, sevenelevenai, mača latė, hipsteriški rajonėliai su perkuruotais būtikais, norvegų kapitalo tradicinės arbatinės, egzotifikuoti bareliai ar instagraminiai kokteiliai dangoraižiuose, fintikliuškų turgeliai aplink žymias šventyklas.

Ir yra Japonija, kurią vietiniai pasilieka sau – su blyksčių nenuzulinta autentika, lėtumu ir pokalbiais, internetų neapdainuotais savitumais, kuriuos lėtai virškina globalizacija ir laikas; ta Japonija, kuri didžiuojasi rezervacijas priimanti tik japonų kalba, tik telefonu. Tai nekviečianti, bet priimanti Japonija.

Alex Kerr rašė ‘Kijotas nekenčia Kijoto’: Vaiskiai žalia Arashiyama bambukų giraitė fotogeniška tik internete, nes šiaip ten turistų daugiau nei medžių. Kai kurie vardan potyrio nuomojasi poliesterinius kimono ir užsako pasivažinėjimą rikša - į kainą įeina selfie-stick’as. Spėk, kurlink Japonijoje lydi visi internetai, dirbtinio intelekto užklausos ir kelialapiai? Ir kiek šimtų tūkstančių rezultatų duoda paieška ‘neturistinė Japonija’? Būtent to ir vengsim. O kartais pilnu greičiu pasinersime į turistinį cukrų - visko dera paragauti bent kartą.

Japonija yra ne geografinė lokacija, o pažinimo sala. Tad maršrutą sudarinėju pagal įdomybes, tuo metu vykstančius reiškinius ir laiką su vietiniais. Bendraudamas su keliaujančia grupe, pažinsiu keliauninkus ir pildysiu naujas veiklas. Būtinai Tokijuje dieną praleistume ant dviračių - bet galbūt daugumai įdomu bus kažkas kitkas. O gal pavėluokime į paskutinius traukinius ir išbandykime kapsulinius viešbučius?

	Didžiąją dalį popiečių ir vakarų leisime su vietiniais - šefu, amatininkais ir fotografais, septyniasdešimtmečiu šokėju, naktinio gyvenimo konsumatoriumi, modeliais ir šokėjais, šventiku, rašytoju. Vietiniai lydės mus į neturistines vietas, pasakos apie visuomenės užkaborius, savo amatą ir profesiją.&#38;nbsp;

Fotografija yra įrankis pažinti aplinką ir save. Kelionė tinka tiek profesionaliems fotografams, tiek smalsuoliams su išmaniuoju ar point-and-shoot muilinuke.

Objektyvuose tilps didmiesčių architektūra, gatvės ir kasdienybė, darbininkų ir naktinis gyvenimas, žvejai saulėtekyje ir šimtų vienuolių procesijos. Fotografuosime šokėjus ir modelius. Leisimės į foto pasivaikščiojimus, lankysime galerijas ir fotografus.


  Kodėl rengiu šią kelionę


	Į Japoniją keliavau tuziną kartų – rengdamas parodas, lydėdamas menininkus. Ten užsimezgė gilios draugystės, pažintys su įdomiais kūrėjais ir nesibaigiantis smalsumas pažinti šalį įvairiapusiškai. Nardydamas po miesto betonines tankmes ir biurokratijos upes, nepaleidžiu fotoaparato ir optimizmo naujiems nuotykiams.
Keista, bet taip ir neteko Japonijoje tiesiog atostogauti. Todėl nusprendžiau surengti kelionę po necukrinę, autentišką Japoniją – ir pasiimti panašius keliautojus kartu. Mano noras yra lydėti keliautojus kuo arčiau tikrų žmonių ir pokalbių, tradicinių ir šiuolaikinių reiškinių, pažinti, kaip pačią šalį mato skirtingi jos gyventojai.

Nuo jaunystės Lietuvoje rengiau didžiausią Baltijos šalyse Japonijos kultūros festivalį nowJapan. Taip supratau, kad japonams labai patinka mūsų Marijos žemelė ir įsidrasinau kažką rengti ten: nuo nelabai lankomų parodėlių, iki itin sėkmingo pirmosios Baltijos meno parodos Tokijaus širdyje (link) ar pusę komandos iš proto išvariusio Europos fotografijos festivalio SEEEU (link), apie kurį rašė The Guardian ir visi tapo laimingi. O šįmet jau spėjau įgyvendinti Baltijos iliustracijos ir animacijos vitriną (link)
Fotografija mano didelė aistra, perlipanti finansinį racionalumą.Nors nesu kelionių agentas, bet į Japoniją esu vežęs virš šimto žmonių (panašiai tiek esu vežęs japonų į Lietuvą). Detaliai žinau kelionių infrastruktūrą, vietines taisykles. Į Japoniją keliauju nuo 2010 metų - mokiausi ten išgyventi dar su popieriniais žemėlapiais ir be interneto. Kartu su komanda jau dešimt metų Japonijoje rengiame parodas, koncertus, festivalius, rūpinames menininkais, bičiuliaujames su vietiniais biurokratais. Lydėjome kuratorius, kūrėjus, importavome meną ir maistą, net alkoholį, ir vykdėme apie keliasdešimt renginių.

Į kainą įeina:
• Gidų ir vertėjų paslaugos.
• Susitikimai su kūrėjais ir menininkais, fotografais.
• Muziejų, galerijų, funikulierių bilietai, dviračiai.

Atskirai reikės įsigyti:
• Skrydžius (900-1300 Eur).
•&#38;nbsp;Apgyvendinimą viešbučiuose per partnerius arba per mus. (kaina 450 Eur asmeniui dviviečiame kambaryje).
• Kelionės draudimą.
• Vietinį transportą (sumoje ~200 Eur).
• Maitinimą (~40 Eur dienai)

	Maršrutas


Maršrutą sudaro trys dalys: Jūra ir uola, Slėniai ir saulė, Hipercivilizacija. Iš Lietuvos leisimės Tokijuje, paliksime milžinus lagaminus ir jau kitą dieną kelsime sparnus į pagrindinės Japonijos salos Honshu šiauriausią (ok, ok, vieną šiauriausių) miestą - Aomori.Šuoliuodami nuo vienos kalno viršūnės ant kitos, stebėsime besiskleidžiantį momiji - raudonuojančius ir auksaspalvius klevų lapus. Kirsime didžiausią Japonijos vulkaninį ežerą Towada laiveliu, kartu su jūrų ežių žvejais ragausime spygliuočių. Pakeliui lankysime amatininkus, gyvai palaikančius regiono pulsą – nuo demonų kaukių drožėjų iki vienišo lėlininko, ant kurio pečių laikosi visas kaimo teatras.  Visą tai kasdien atskiesime mirkimu laukiniuose onsenuose: pajūrio vėjų talžomose voniose arba medinėse geoterminio purvo ir garų dėžėse, iš kurių kyšos tik mūsų galvos.

Tokyo sent a friend request. Susidraugauti su miestu padės dvynės DJ, rašytojas, sociologas fotografai, naktinio gyvenimo konsumatorius, aktorius-imtynininkas, senukas-influenseris. Lankysime Kabuki teatrą, architektūros monumentus, naktinio gyvenimo avilius, antikos mugę, tą šurmuliuojančią perėją, didžiausią Japonijoje Chinatown, senelių-hipsterių rajonėlius.

• Jungiamasis skrydis Vilnius-Tokijas.
• Skrydyje žiūrime Anthony Bourdaine'o laidas apie Japoniją, Tampopo, Shogun serialą.
• Skaitome dr. Aurelijaus Zyko ‘Septynis Saulės veidus’ arba Andriaus Kleivos trilogiją.
• Ryžtingesni pagriebkit keletą apsakymų iš Natsume Soseki ‘I am a Cat’ ar Nariaus Kairio ‘Yura Yura’.

11.04 Trečiadienis
• Nusileidžiame Tokijuje. Pasitinku jus oro uoste. Skubame į viešbutį.• Vakare lankome neturistinio rajonėlio kavinėje-didžėjinėje (nėra tokio žodžio!), kur pasitinka kava, kokteiliai, o už kampo viena išvaizdingiausių Tokijaus saunų. Kiekvienas pagal savo jetlag'ą renkasi vakaro eigą.
• Kartu vakarieniaujame. Prieš miegą turškiames baseine ant stogo - juk jau nuo rytojaus paliksime miesto civilizaciją savaitei.
11.05-06 Aomori, Sai kaimelis, tuno sostinė Oma, Towada, Hinabi Shimokita, Hachinohe11.05 Ketvirtadienis
• Paskutinis megapolio civilizacijos desertas - kava dangoraižio viršuje, kur Tokijas kaip ant delno. Dabar jau tikrai tikrai paliekame miestą.
• Greitaisiais traukiniais Shinkansen (arba tarpmiestiniu lėktuvu) išvykstame į Aomori.
• Aomori gaubia Tsugaru sąsiaurį, kuris jungia Japonijos jūrą ir Ramųjį vandenyną; tad šaltas, maistingas vanduo yra premium spot žuvininkystei. Pietums ir vakarienei - šviežiai pagauta žuvis ir local specialties.
• Towada Art Center grožimės žymiausiais šiuolaikiniais japonų kūrėjais - Yayoi Kusama, Yoko Ono (aš nesu fanas, bet ai), Yoshitomo Nara, Chiharu Shiota, Takashi Kuribayashi ir kiti.
• Nakvojame Aomori komersantų viešbutėlyje, kurio interjeras mena Japonijos 90s pakilimą ir yra nostalgiška laiko kapsulė.

11.06 Penktadienis
• Jūriniu laiveliu keliames į Sai kaimelį (arba dėl orų keltas atšaukiamas ir imamės plano B; šiaip apie 40% keltų yra atšaukiama dėl orų). Dantytos pakrantės uolos yra neįtikėtino ikoniškumo. Kažkodėl čia yra jūros ežių žvejybos hub'as - su vietiniais žvejais aiškinames to priežastis, landžiodami uoste ragaujame šviežiai pagautų spygliuočių.
• Penktadieniai Japonijos jūrų savigynos pajėgose yra kario diena - tad kiekvienas jūrininkystės miestelis tiekia savąjį karį. Tą ir ragaujame.
• Aomori, kurį prieš tai skelbiau šiauriausiu pagrindinės salos tašku, iš tiesų nėra toks. Šiauriausia vieta yra Oma miestelis, kurį ir lankome. Miestelis kaip miestelis, išskyrus tai, kad tai yra visos šalies tuno sostinė; spėkit, ką ragaujame.
• Iš čia vaikomės artėjantį saulėlydį, važiuodami vaizdinguoju Hinabi Shimokita traukiniu į Hachinohe.
• Apsistojame Hachinohe.

	11.07-08 Towada vulkaninis ežeras, Tatehana turgus, Sanriku Railway, Miyako, Sappa žvejų valtelės
11.07 Šeštadienis
• Visai dienai išskubame lankyti Towada ežero. Jis ypatingas tuo, kad susiformavo išsiveržus dviems ugnikalniams. Nors žydintys klevai mus lydės visą kelionę, ši vietovė viena fotogeniškiausių: ant deep blue vandens uolėti krantai rikiuojasi su margaspalviais miškais.
• Lankome Ebisu Daikoku salelę.
• Lenktyniniu kateriuku zujame po ežerą, iš arti glausdamiesi prie uolėtų pakrančių.
• Pietaujame ir užklystame į vietinį Sento - karštų versmių kompleksą atsipalaidavimui.
• Vakarieniaujame jau grįžę į Hachinohe. Rytoj kelsimės su saulėlydžiu.

11.08 Sekmadienis
• Keliames su saule. Ankstyvi minimalistiniai pusryčiai, triguba kavos dozė ir išskubame į Tatehana prieplaukos rytinį turgų - tai didžiausias savaitinis turgus visoje šalyje. Maisto, sendaikčių, vertybių ir fintikliuškų prekystaliai formuoja 800 metrų išlaidų begalybę. Viskas bus gerai: visokius nelabai aiškios paskirties ir vidutiniško reikalingumo nupirktus daiktus iš viešbučio išsiųsim tiesiai į Tokiją. O toliau keliausime lengvai.
• Popiet lankome Hachinohe pakrantę. Bandau jus įkalbėti pusdienio haikui, bet veikiausiai pasirinksite pasivažinėjimą vaizdinguoju traukiniu uolėta pakrante su integruotais pietumis. Diena primins Škotiją, Žiedų valdovą, Villeneuve'o Kopą.
• Sanriku Railway pakrantės traukiniu nusigauname į Miyako. Verta grožėtis, bet gali būti, kad užmigsit.
• Paskutinė dienos dalis: Sappa žveju valtelėmis tyrinėjame uolėtą Miyako įlankos ir Ramiojo vandenyno pakrantę.
11.09-10 Sendai Daikannon, Zao lapių kaimelis, Kamiko dirbtuvės, Akiu Onsen, atvykimas į Tokiją&#38;nbsp;
11.09 Pirmadienis
• Važiuojame į Sendai miestą, pietaujame ir kylame į aukščiausią šalyje dievybės statulą Sendai Daikannon. Proporcijai - Tu esi mažesnis nei statulos akis. Nors statula yra dievybė, pats daiktas ir miesto infrastruktūra yra hiper-kapitalizmo liudijimas, kai privati kompanija išpirko milžinišką miesto plotą ir kūrė jame ką tik norėjo. Religinių statulų statymas Japonijoje yra mokestinė išimtis, tai irgi buvo motyvacija. Kylame į statulą begaliniais laiptukais jos vidumi - geras kardio po visų persivalgymų.
• Lankome Zao lapių kaimelį. Šimtai oranžinių gniutulų miega, žaidžia arba manipuliuoja mumis vardan skanėstų.
• Aplankome ir Fumiko Sato - Kamiko amatininkę, kuriančią tradicinius rūbus iš popieriaus. Įmantrumas kyla iš nepritekliaus, kai Shiroishi regionui nebuvo prieinama medvilnė, tad teko išrasti popierinius žieminius drabužius.
• Apsistojame Akiu Onsen - viešbučių ir pirčių miestelyje, supančiame Natori upę.
11.10 Antradienis
• Pusryčiaujame viešbutyje, pasiryžtame paskutiniam žygiui gamtoje ir vėlyvą popietę atsiduriame didžiausiame pasaulio megapolyje.

11.10 Antradienis
• Įgriūname į viešbutį, apsikabiname lagaminus.
• Kelios laisvos valandos.
• Vakarieniaujame su Andriumi Geležausku - vienu iš žmonių, vertėjaujančiu valstybiniu lygmeniu premjerams, ministrams ir prezidentams. Andrius yra žingeidus pragmatikas, konsultuoja Lietuvos verslus ir turi neįtikėtiną patirtį tarpkultūriniuose nesusipratimuose.
11.11 Trečiadienis
• Sėdame ant elektrinių dviračių ir lankome autentiškus rajonėlius. Tyrinėjame Sangenjaya ir Shimokitazawa, Shoin-jinja-mae ir Setagaya rajonėlius: čia hipsteriškas minimalizmas susitinka su retro, Showa eros Japonija.
• Vėlyvą popietę atsigaiviname vietinėje Kosugi-yu pirtelėje. Super vietinėje, nė vieno turisto! Tik mes.
• Persikeliame į vieną iš miesto širdžių - Shibuya. Aplankome kelias vintažinių kamerų parduotuvėles, pasibaisime žmonių srautu toje žymiojoje perėjoje.
• Jei tarp mūsų yra rūkančių - kviečiu cigariukui mano mėgstamiausioje sankryžoje visame mieste.
• Vakarienei prisijungia Andrius Kleiva - trijų knygų apie Japoniją autorius. Andrius yra unikalus reiškinys - japoniškai darboholiškas, tuopat atsipalaidavęs kaip islandas.
• Vakarieniaujame jaukiame Tomigaya rajonėlyje - tai džinsinio hipsterio, vietinio senuko ir vietnamietiško koldūno kūrinys.

11.12 Ketvirtadienis
• Pradedame nuo kavos puodelio pas fashionistas senukus. Septyniasdešimtmečiai kavos pilstytojai atrodo šviežiai nužengę iš Louis Vuitton podiumo.
• Kartu su architektais, dieną skiriame lankyti keistąją Tokijaus architektūrą ir meno parodas.
• O popietę - fotosesijai su dvynėmis muzikos prodiuserėmis.
• Vakarieniaujame nuostabiame 14-os patiekalų Yakiniku - jautienos grilio - restorane.
• Ir skubame į Puroresu - teatralizuotų imtynių - renginio užkulisius, fotografuojame kovotojus (aktorius?). Iš Amerikos atkeliavęs fenomenas Japonijoje, žinoma, įgavo savo atspalvių - raumenų kalnai persirengia kačiukais ar fetišistais, pagal susitarimą daužo kėdes vieni kitiems į galvas.
• O po mačo visi kartu išeina alaus - prisijungsime ir mes.

11.13-15: Kamakura, Enoshima ir viešnagė pas japonų šefą, Reiyukai Shakaden, beisbolas, klausymo kavinės, Kabuki-za, fotoalbumų krautuvė. Išvykimas.
11.13 Penktdienis
• Pusryčiams mikropiknikas: ragaujame žymiausius parduotuvėlės Daily Yamazaki užkandžių ir maisto derinius.
• Lankome futuristiškiausią religinį statinį Japonoijoje: ir Reiyukai Shakaden.
• Ir išskubame į pajūrio miestelį Kamakurą, kur braidome pajūriu, o pietus ruošiame kartu su šefu-keramiku Taku-sama.
• Vakare lankomės populiariausio japoniško sporto - beisbolo - rungtynes. Japonija prieš Korėją.
• Vakarieniaumame skaniausio japoniško maisto - korėjietišką barbekiu.&#38;nbsp;
• Vėliau lankome vieną žymiausių klausymo kavinių. Kadangi tokios kavinės, o veikiau barai su griežtu elgesio etiketu, nemėgsta didelių užsieniečių grupių - kitaip Gaijin-mura, galbūt skaidomės smulkesnėmis grupėmis.

11.14 Šeštadienis
• Skubame į rytinį Ameyoko sendaikčių turgų, nes lagaminai patys nepapilnės.
• Širdims užpildyti lankomės tradiciniame Kabuki teatre - puošnūs aktoriai milžiniškoje scenografijoje balbatuoja apie garbę, ištikimybę, meilę, kariauja; mes storyline'ą su ne mažiau dramos skaitome iš subtitrų.
• Būtinai lankomės Tokyu Hands Shibuya - tai legendinė 'Senukų' tipo parduotuvė, kurioje galima įsigyti visko visko, įskaitant japoniškojo kedro pliauską. Tokijas ir internetai gedi - ši ikoniška parduotuvės lokacija užsidaro po 48 metų. 
• Paskutinė pilna diena kartu. Vieni norės užpildyti lagaminus reikalingais ir nelabai suvenyrais, o kiti toliau į sielas pils pramogas ir kultūrą. Tad skilsime į du pogrupius.
• Lagaminų pogrupis lėks į Spiral Garden, Puebco, Good Design Store daiktinininkams, RAGTAG drabužininkams, MUJI arba Kakimori kanceliarininkams.
• Sielų pogrupis keliaus į nepriklausomas galerijas, puikiąją 21_21 Design Sight galeriją, keletą kitų paslapčių.
• Ankstyvą vakarą susitinkame Sokyusha - japoniškų fotoalbumų krautuvėje-galerijoje. Mano kuklia nuomone, tai vertingiausia foto krautuvė, pristatanti alternatyvią ir turtingą Japonijos fotografijos tradiciją. Pats tas lagaminams ir&#38;nbsp;sieloms.
• Paskutinei vakarienei užsidarome sušinėje.
11.15 Sekmadienis
• Retro pusryčiai kartu, laisvas laikas ir išvykimas.

Nearing a midlife crisis, the photographer decides to leave a mark or&#38;nbsp;bring meanings to hearts, subsequently cultivating new photographic series that are dear to him, ranging from the allure of wrinkles to the hidden lives of artists.

The photographer is aware that his subjects are not pleased with their souls being captured; that's why he often engages in unnecessary conversations and always wears running shoes.

InfluencesHideaki Hamada, whom I am honored to call a friend, profoundly influences my approach to composition.
I continually gain insights from the works of Artūras Morozovas. 
Discovering the works of Romualdas Požerskis and Antanas Sutkus was a pivotal moment, revealing how much emotional resonance everyday life has.

Vivian Maier and Annie Leibovitz have fueled my fascination with candid photography and eccentric characters, accentuating the raw, unscripted essence of their subjects.

When it comes to studio work, it’s a whole different ballgame. I am deeply enamored with the conceptualism manifested in the works of Cho Gi-Seok.
The compelling storytelling of Scott Schuman and Brandon Stanton sparked the concept of my “Seniors of Vilnius” series.

I remain ever-vigilant for glimpses of Daido Moriyama’s elusive canine companion, and capturing the raindrops in water canister much like Tadas Kazakevičius did.
Albeit a little too liberal from a visual standpoint, the philosophy and relentless dedication of Nobuyoshi Araki and Trevor Wisecup are not to be taken lightly. Embracing the spontaneous rhythm of ‘snap-snap’ has unlocked avenues of bold, liberating expressions.


Bio


Born in Vilnius, Lithuania, in 1987. The Soviet Union was on the verge of collapse, and the American Dream was visiting us not in our sleep, but via bootlegged VHS tapes. I've come to appreciate being the byproduct of both sides of the globe, embracing a true Westerner’s selective disregard for the rest of the world.

I’ve been watercoloring since my earliest memories, switching to pen and pencils in secondary school and migrating to mice and cursors during my teenage years. This journey eventually led me to discover my passion for graphic design in my late university years.

With a heart full of youthful naivete, I began organizing cultural events with the ambitious goal of changing the world. The world has indeed changed, though I suspect not due to my endeavors. Merging my passions, I’ve proudly donned the title of Creative Producer.

The camera and I maintained a “friend-zone” relationship from my early student years; we would spend time together, but nothing serious ever developed. However, over the past five years, thanks to the supportive fellows around me, I’ve decided to take this relationship to a more committed level.

	@seniorsofvilnius︎“Seniors of Vilnius” is an ongoing photo project, narrating the stories of seniors from Lithuania (and beyond). 
 My grandma, rest her soul, had 20 sets of bedding sets. "Why?" I would ask. "You’ll get it when you’re older," she'd snap back. I never got the ‘why’ behind it, but I sure did grasp the vibe: the scarcity and the Soviet era instilled a sense of insecurity about the future, about basic well-being.
When you get old—keep to yourself: buy candies for the grandkids, leave the flat to your children, family will visit at Easter, don’t forget to check your blood pressure...
Finding a curious, vibrant, smiling, self-content elder is rare. Yet, sometimes, they do appear. Some even rocking a pretty cool style. Or uniquely quirky, having already had their casting call with the Coen brothers.
I’m not beautiful, but I’m the most charming lady of my age!
I got a fifteen percent discount for my funeral service. I won't leave this world without a fifty percent discount!
I had a heart attack. The hardest part during recovery was accepting help from my children—they had to teach me to read again.
Inspiring! I started photographing these rare birds five years ago. At first, timidly, crouching at the question, "Why me?"—telling an old-school sailor about expressiveness or beauty is somewhat awkward. Later on, we even flirted with the grannies, throwing shade at Gen Z.

	In Japan my lens pretends to be a local: it scurries among farmers in the fields and rubs shoulders with old men in pubs; shadows priests stepping into dawn prayers; coaxes a smile from a creature of the night; and clicks in cadence with the bullet train so as not to wake the slumbering couple rocking along the rails.
It holds the glare of a salaryman who despises camera-toting tourists, tails cats down narrow alleys, pesters young families and passersby, and caresses the soft underbelly of the nightlife under the guise of documentary work.
Every frame owes both an apology for disturbing the subject’s everyday life and gratitude for their grace. It is all held in the Japanese word sumimasen&#38;nbsp;— an apology and a thank you rolled into one.

Sequence of Actions:
In a window we see Tsuruga port, mountains.
We stop at the wooden pier. There is no shouting, no rifle butts, only the sound of calm water lapping against the hull.
Through the circular glass, Japanese women in vibrant kimonos walk along the dock. They carry baskets of bright, polished red apples (apples are actually red), lifting them toward the windows of the ship.
The Father and Mother appear beside Leah, their faces smooth and young, free of the lines of fear. They take an apple from a basket through the open window.
